I am from a small town of all most all white people and I had never been outside of the United States until 1997. I went to Puerto Rico that year to play baseball. over, my week was concluded. I didn't even get a chance to take a dancing lesson, which I could've really used (I'm a horrible dancer). Although, I didn't get the lesson this time, I plan on going back there someday. Going to Puerto Rico was an unforgettable experience, because it exposed me to different races, culture, and a different type of terrain. Just to let you know, I felt totally comfortable with all those things.
